Dr. Niraj U. Joshi is a development leader and ecologist with over 25 years of experience translating ecological research into scalable community resilience and policy frameworks across India, Mozambique, and Europe.
Holding a Ph.D. in Ecology from CEPT University, his career bridges the gap between rigorous field-level science and high-level institutional strategy. Currently serving as Area Director at the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), Dr. Joshi leads interdisciplinary teams of 50+ staff across biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation, and rural livelihoods.
Throughout his career—including senior roles with the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) and Aga Khan Foundation Mozambique—he has focused on embedding evidence-based learning cultures that turn field data into actionable policy insights.
